
Kate Geiser graduated from the University of Arizona (Tucson) in 1991 with her M.A. degree in Counseling, with a specialty in working with people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. She is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), and taught ASL at the university level for several years prior to graduate school. Kate is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois (license #180-003199), and a National Certified Counselor (NBCC Certification #61375). She has over 15 years experience as a therapist, and has worked in a wide variety of treatment settings, including outpatient mental health clinics, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and in the private sector. In June, 2005 Kate completed a one-year certificate program in Clinical Practice With LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) Individuals and Their Families, from the Chicago Center For Family Health. She pursues continuing education on a wide variety of mental health-related topics each year.

In addition to her private practice, Kate provides
limited consultation and therapy at an outpatient mental health program that
serves deaf and hard-of-hearing people. She also leads corporate
trainings and seminars on a variety of topics including communication in the
work place, stress management, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
